2017 | Co-ops Commit
This October Naknek Electric Association is celebrating National Cooperative Month along with 40,000 other cooperative businesses nationwide. Cooperatives around the world operate according to the same set of core principles and values, adopted by the International Co-operative Alliance. Cooperatives trace the roots of these principles to the first modern cooperative founded in Rochdale, England in 1844. These principles are a key reason that electric cooperatives operate differently than other electric utilities by putting the needs of their members first.
Our Members First
When you became a member of the Naknek Electric Association, you became an owner of our electric cooperative. Electric co-ops like NEA provide vital community infrastructure that makes them pivotal service providers in Rural Alaska. This year’s theme is right on target, because Naknek Electric Association is committed to serving our membership by providing quality electrical service to enhance the quality of life in Bristol Bay.
