Cooperative Heritage
The staff and board would like to acknowledge the lifetime of leadership by former members of the NEA Board of Directors, Alvin Aspelund and Melvin Monsen. Both were born within a few weeks each other in 1930, grew up together in Naknek and remained close companions throughout their lives. Alvin served the cooperative as a director for two years from 1960 – 1962 and for an additional 3 years from 1964 – 1967. Melvin served as a founding member of the Naknek Electric Association and served as a director from 1958 – 1963. In addition to their service to NEA, both men were continuously dedicated to family, the Bristol Bay fishery and the preservation of our local history throughout their lives. We would like to thank them for their years of service to the cooperative and the community.
