Grassroots

Energy Matters

The Naknek Electric Association Grassroots Delegates program is a legislative leadership opportunity that is intended to give teens an opportunity to meet state and federal legislative representatives to learn about the impact electric cooperatives have in our communities. Delegates selected to represent the cooperative include, co-op members, students, members of the NEA Board of Directors and our CEO/General Manager.

One of the most important parts of this program is the opportunity for NEA Delegates to visit with congressional representatives and  ask important questions. At a time when energy is at the forefront of issues facing Rural Alaska, this is a great opportunity to represent and advocate for Bristol Bay and the Cooperative. These opportunities for face time with leaders such as Senator Lisa Murkowski and Congressman Don Young are an invaluable way to advocate for legislation that will continue to support sustainable infrastructure development in Rural Alaska long into the future.

Members who are interested in participating as Member Delegate should contact our office and inquire about space availability.
