Naknek Electric Association Inc. is currently accepting applications for a Power Plant Operator/Mechanic position. This full time union position requires the performance and responsibilities required of an Operator/ Mechanic. The position is governed by the terms of the agreement between NEA and IBEW Local 1547. The rate of pay will be in accordance with that agreement. The position includes an excellent benefit package.
Position summary: The Power Plant Operator/Mechanic controls, operates, maintains and repairs the machinery necessary to safely generate and distribute electricity to the cooperative’s members. The position is responsible for monitoring instruments to maintain voltage and electricity flows from the plant to meet fluctuating consumer demand during the day.
Naknek Electric Association is located in the Southwest region of Alaska which is home to the largest commercial wild sockeye salmon fishery in the world and unparalleled sports fishing and hunting. Our surrounding landscape is known for its abundant fish and wildlife, including salmon, bear, moose, caribou, walrus and whales.
